‘Screaming Spurs Fan’ likes screaming for the Spurs, was quite psyched during Game 1 (Video)

After trailing the Golden State Warriors by as many as 18 and facing a 104-88 deficit with 4:31 remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals, the San Antonio Spurs ripped off a remarkable 18-2 run to tie the game and force overtime. As our Eric Freeman related overnight, the Spurs went on to win the game, 129-127, after two extra sessions, on the strength of a Manu Ginobili 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining in double overtime.

It was a thrilling, exhilarating conclusion to a game that had once seemed out of reach, and Spurs fans were understandably super amped up throughout the late stages, as San Antonio mounted its comeback by making buckets and forcing Warriors misses. Especially this one fan, whose excitement (as picked up clear as a bell by TNT's broadcast) reached a fever pitch in the final minute of regulation, after Spurs guard Danny Green hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 106 and Warriors star Stephen Curry was unable to answer:

And you could definitely hear how stoked the fan was when Manu hit the game-winner:

... which was, y'know, very stoked.

Those of us without much audio/visual know-how assumed that the vociferous Spurs supporter was being picked up by the crowd microphones on TNT's broadcast, but Deadspin AV guru Timothy Burke said he believed that was not the case, and that the cries were actually coming through the mics used by announcers Dick Stockton and Chris Webber, which would likely make the fan one of the people seated directly behind the TNT broadcast position. (A lot of people believe the fan is a woman; my money's on the well-lit silver fox between Stockton and C-Webb, personally.)

Because the Internet is dark and full of terrors, a great number of people complained on Twitter about how the "Screaming/Shrieking Spurs Lady" negatively impacted their experience of watching the end of Game 1, with some viewers and writers going so far as to say that it "ruined the ending." That's their right, of course — it seems kind of nuts to me that someone screaming a few times would drain the enjoyment out of a game that ridiculously, eminently, perfectly enjoyable, but hey, your mileage may vary. (Maybe let's cool it with the calls for her to be "slapped," though, super-cool-parody-account-running keyboard gangsters.)

Whether you found it ruinous or just something to deal with as you watched an unforgettable playoff game unfold, you probably found yourself wondering just who this shrieking person really is.

Luckily, "she" revealed herself during the game.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH #SPURS

Hey, how about that? It's just some person typing a bunch of nonsense on Twitter. Just like the rest of us!
