Metta World Peace surprised us all after Tuesday's win over the New Orleans Hornets when he explained his remarkably fast recovery from left knee surgery by saying he was able to come back so quickly because he is "too sexy for [his] cat." (That anything MWP says or does surprises us is our bad at this point, really.)
After a day full of head-scratching as to what the heck he was talking about — and another Los Angeles Lakers victory, this time over the Portland Trail Blazers, thanks largely to a season-high 47 points from leader Kobe Bryant — World Peace took to Twitter to set the record straight about his weird interview:
#confessions I thought the song was "I'm too sexy for my Cat" it's "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt".My goodness How did I screw this up?

Well, that certainly clears that up.
Hmm? What's that, Metta? You weren't finished? Oh, I'm sorry — please continue:
I found out when my team mates told me this morning. They looked at me in shame. Sacre started to sing the lyrics with a cat wig on.

Thanks for the clarification, Ron-Ron. It's an understandable mistake — after all, the two-man power trip that is Right Said Fred did reference cats quite a bit in "I'm Too Sexy" (most notably in the repeated phrase, "I do my little turn on the catwalk") and the lyric "I'm too sexy for my cat" does appear near the end of the song. Any one of us intent on using a Right Said Fred song to answer a question about our health and well-being 12 days after an operation to repair a meniscus tear — which, of course, is all of us — could have made the same mistake.
So don't beat yourself up too much, man. Now, if you could just explain to us where rookie center Robert Sacre found a cat wig big enough for his own head, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Metta's workload was reduced on the second night of the Lakers' back-to-back, as he played just 13 1/2 minutes in Portland, kicking in four points on 2 for 5 shooting, two rebounds and a steal. Neither he nor his teammates wore wigs of any kind on the bench, sadly.
