Early in the second quarter of the Denver Nuggets' 109-108 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night — a game decided in the closing seconds by Rudy Gay's second game-winning basket in the last three games for the Canucks — Nuggets forward/longtime Internet cause célèbre Anthony Randolph missed a fast-break slam dunk. He was sad about it.
Randolph had played just 23 total minutes in four appearances over the Nuggets' previous nine games, but he was pressed into duty on Tuesday thanks to the absence of starters Danilo Gallinari and Andre Iguodala and the early exit of center JaVale McGee, who left after just five minutes of action with "left tibia soreness," did not return and is listed as day-to-day. As a result, the 23-year-old bundle of amorphous skills saw a season-high 27 minutes of playing time, scoring 16 points on 6 for 13 shooting and added seven rebounds, three steals, two assists, two blocks and plenty of curiosity-inducing moments in the loss. If McGee can't go Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, the full Anthony Randolph Experience might get another extended look at Barclays Center, which would be super fun.
