On some level, I know this is ostensibly just an advertisement for adidas. It's a video released through adidas Basketball's YouTube channel, prominently featuring multiple shots of those signature stripes and culminating with the company's logo. The bottom line of any spot like this is to make you think that what you should do is buy the sponsor's product; I get that.
And in this case, I don't really care.
Seeing Derrick Rose — the youngest player ever to be named the NBA's Most Valuable Player, the Chicago Bulls' centerpiece star and one of the most exciting point guards in the world — back on his feet, working hard as he rehabilitates from the catastrophic anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered during the first game of the Bulls' opening-round postseason series against the Philadelphia 76ers in an effort to make good on his promise to fans to "be all right" and get back out on the court as soon as is reasonably possible, did my heart good. And while they'll need to curb their enthusiasm just a bit — remember, as KD wrote in discussing Tim Hardaway's claims about D-Rose developing his jump shot, "as soon as is reasonably possible" is going to be a good long while — I'm pretty sure it did Bulls' fans hearts good. Hell, it did all our hearts good.
It was nice of you to say you're "all in" there at the end, Derrick, but it's unlikely anyone doubted that too much beforehand as it was. Get well soon, kid. While we wait, we're going to run the tape back one more time, focusing more on the last 45 seconds than on the first 15. We've seen enough of that to last a lifetime.
