On Tuesday night, Miami Heat forward Shane Battier held "Battioke," a karaoke charity event benefiting his Take Charge Foundation, which gives scholarships to hardworking students in the Miami area. Battier has held similar events in the past, including "Clutch City Karaoke" in Houston in April 2010. For this version, Battier enlisted the help of his Heat teammates and higher-ups, including LeBron James, owner Micky Arison, and a host of other notable figures.
As of now, though, we only have one video from the event: this clip of Hall of Famer and current team president Pat Riley singing The Temptations classic "My Girl" off-key. It's a noble effort, but in the battle of singing NBA heavyweights Riley easily loses out to Pau Gasol, who performed at a Los Angeles charity event a few weeks ago. And he was singing The Fray!
We can only hope that video of LeBron's song surfaces soon. For now, we must make due with a photo of him in a Rick James wig, apparently singing "Super Freak." Check out that shot, via Arison's Twitter, after the jump.
Rick was right. I would not take that home to mother.
