Deron Williams pushes kid wearing Knicks jersey, continuing battle for New York (Video)

Here's point guard Deron Williams on the budding rivalry between his Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks at a recent Nike event:

"[...] you can tell, the energy from those four games this season were probably more intense than any other four games we played in.

"Even when we won or when the Knicks won, the way they celebrated wasn't how you would celebrate after a normal win. It definitely means much more. It's not really a rivalry yet, but I think it's forming, and as we get better and as the Knicks get better, I think it'll be a rivalry for years to come."

Here's Williams on Instagram on Tuesday:

One small shove for social media gags; one giant leap for burgeoning, smoldering rivalry-kind.

Asked for his response, new Nets head coach Jason Kidd lamented the kid's inability to draw the and-one by sticking his leg out as Williams got close, but was pleased that the refs kept their whistles quiet this time.

Hat-tip to Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game.
